Paul MaulucciPaul has been a carpenter for over 43 years as well as a small business owner and an avid woodturner for more than 38 years.
Paul was introduced to woodturning in high school and quickly and gratifyingly found that he could produce appealing and usable products. The products turned out to be equally as meaningful and enjoyable for the recipients. He enjoys discovering unique grain patterns locked inside the wood waiting to be displayed, whether it is an exotic wood, or a piece from a firewood pile, too tough to split, cast aside and starting to decay. He then determines what shape can be obtained with the constraints presented by the wood in order to make it into a functional piece. Most wood finishes today are food safe after a manufacturer's recommended drying period. Paul typically uses wither a clear "salad bowl finish" or a mixture of oil and wax to highlight a piece's natural beauty. Paul is a member of the Central Connecticut Woodturners and the American Association of Woodturners. |
