Sherry BlockEven as a child Sherry would come home from her frequent walks with rusty metal treasures. She first picked up a torch in a welding class at Creative Arts Workshop (where she now teaches) in 2014. It was love at first weld.
Not getting enough welding time with just a class, she picked up her husband’s torches, set up a wooden drafting table outdoors and a piece of sheet metal to cover it and set to work. After setting the table on fire many times the search was on for a proper welding table (still outdoors). A plasma cutter, MIG welder, anvil, and her own rusty metal scrapyard have been added to the mix. Inspiration comes from a piece of metal, memories of the past, a grandchild’s drawing, a dream, the natural world……well, just about anything. Designs range from whimsical to serious. It’s all fun! |
